Donnelly Neary & Donnelly win case in the European Court of Justice seeking to overturn the decision of the European Parliament refusing access to expenses details of MEPs.

With the support of the European Data Protection Commissioner the application was made to have papers which the Parliament considered to be confidential to be releases. The papers sough concerned the expenses paid to MEPs by the Parliament relations to Parliamentary assistance allowances . The allegation made in Court was that the MEPs had defrauded the Parliament by claiming allowances to which they were not entitled[/contact-form]

The Court granted our clients legal aid to cover the costs of the proceedings in Europe. Assistance was obtained from the High Court in Dublin and access to the papers sought was achieved . The case subsequently settled on confidential terms
